Chiropractor in South Nashville : Dr. Christopher Dohnal

Dedicated to helping you and your family reach your health goals and wellness objectives

Chiropractor in South Nashville, Dr. Chris Dohnal

I have often been asked the reason why I chose to be a Chiropractic Physician. My introduction and interest in this area of healthcare began when other treatment modalities failed to resolve a college sports injury.

My Chiropractic Story...

I was a collegiate athlete – a member of a pretty elite group of runners. I had intentions of a career in the medical field, and a great final season with my team. While on a routine run, I injured my knee. After completing a series of traditional treatments, my injury was no better. Several medical doctors told me the pain was “in my head.” Every time I ran my knee swelled to the size of a softball. I was devastated, and thought that my life as a runner was over. During this time I also developed occasional low back pain.

I consulted a chiropractor in town to see if he could help me. When I entered his office he talked to me about the structure and biomechanics of the body. He informed me that chiropractors can work not only on your spine, but also on your extremities and other aspects of your health. Even though the pain was in my knee, he began my treatment by adjusting my foot and ankle. It was difficult to believe that the source of my knee and low back pain was coming from my foot!

After only a few adjustments, I was able to resume a healthy, athletic lifestyle. It was then I became sold on the value of chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Education

After a successful running career and receiving a B.S. in Biology from Mount Union College in Ohio, I continued my education at Logan College of Chiropractic outside of St. Louis. While at Logan I learned the biomechanics of the human body, and how altering its structure can in turn alter its function. I graduated Cum Laude from Logan in 2005 as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

After personally being juggled through the medical model of care, and seeing hundreds of patients have the same thing happen, it makes me even more driven to help everyone in our community. This is why I make sure every patient gets the personal attention and individualized care that they deserve.

On a personal note...

Once I completed my education and training, I was eager to return to middle Tennessee where I grew up. It was here in Nashville where I met my wonderful wife, Linda, a School Psychologist. Together we support various philanthropic causes. In particular, I am a member of the South Nashville Exchange Club, whose cause is the Prevention of Child Abuse. We also have two sons together, Lucas, 2yrs old and Garret, just two months old.

I enjoy spending time with family, and active outside activities. I am still an active runner. You may see me on the trails at Percy Werner Park throughout the year. Linda and I are committed to being active and healthy for a long life together. We maintain our health through regular exercise, a diet rich in whole foods, vitamin supplementation, and chiropractic care. These are key components that assist in keeping the body healthy, maintaining a positive mental attitude, and help fight the routine stressors of our everyday lives.

I am also a Member of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association, and of the South Nashville Exchange Club, prevention of child abuse.
