Spinal Decompression

chiropractor-nashville-spinal-decompressionNon-Surgical Spinal Decompression(NSSD), also known as Spinal Decompression, is a non-invasive therapeutic treatment. During treatment, the NSSD computer-controlled device is programmed to gently stretch the spine. The gentle force is delivered through a harness system, and it releases at specific timed intervals throughout the treatment session.

How does it work?

The gentle stretching and relaxing of the spine during NSSD causes a phenomenon known as “imbibition.” This is how a normal disc receives nutrition, since they do not have a blood supply. NSSD promotes the nutrients, oxygen and water to be drawn into the disc, which often doesn’t occur in damaged and degenerative discs, resulting in a healing environment. In healthy discs, this occurs naturally with normal daily movements.

NSSD is a non-invasive procedure, and patients typically experience a sense of relief and relaxation during treatment. Most patients report feeling gentle stretching in the neck, lower back and hips. In fact, many patients fall asleep.

NSSD is safe and well-tolerated by most patients. We will evaluate your specific condition to determine if NSSD is the correct treatment for your condition. NSSD can help many conditions including but not limited to:

  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Sciatica
  • Pinched Nerves
  • Bulging Discs
  • Herniated Discs
  • Arm Pain
  • Leg Pain
  • Neck Pain
